Agartala is the capital of the Indian State of Tripura. Being the state capital
it houses many state owned enterprises. Majority of the population is employed with
the State and central government and other government owned enterprises. These enterprises
provide many opportunities to the young and unemployed. The main public sector units
in Agartala are Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Bharat Sanchar Nigam
Limited (BSNL), GAIL and TRTC.
All the state and central government bodies and the public sector units provide
many job opportunities to the population of Agartala. All these bodies have numerous
departments like administration, finance, IT etc which have the capacity to recruit
many people. The young can work in these departments as per their expertise and
capabilities. Besides the public sector units there are many Indian banks of both
the public sector and the private. The major banks in the city are SBI, PNB, UTI
Bank, ICICI bank, Vijaya Bank, Canara Bank, UCO Bank etc. Apart from these banks,
the bank with the widest network is Tripura Grameen Bank.
All these recruit people in the fields of insurance, marketing, Bancassuarance,
enterprise-wide risk management, accounts, human resources, IT etc. So many departments
in the banking sector alone are able to absorb many people as per their requirements
in terms of qualifications and experience.
Thus, we see though Tripura as a state and Agartala as a city are considered to
be small but the number of career and job opportunities available to the population
are tremendous in a wide choice of fields.
