Dressing Right for the Interview 
The sole purpose of a Telephonic Interview is to secure an in-person meeting with the candidate. It helps the recruiters in narrowing down their list of prospective candidates. As harmless as it seems, this interview can really help you in getting through the initial screening. Study following three segments
.


1. Before Telephonic Interview
The homework must needs to be done before a telephonic Interview. Keep not only your resume in front of you but also other research materials pertaining to your employer. Have a notepad and a pen in your hand to take notes if needed. Do not let anything like stereo, TV distract you. Have control over your voice and practice a little bit of modulation. Also keep a glass of water handy so that you do not need to get up while the call is being carried on. It is also advisable to answer nature’s call prior to phone interview as you never know for how long you will be held up. Do gather enough information about the job and the company concerned. Make sure your family is aware of your this Phone Interview lest they do not disturb you in between.

2. During the Telephonic Interview
While your Phone Interview is being carried upon, never eat or drink. Keep a respectable speed and clear pronunciations. Give appropriate pauses in between your conversation and provide correct and detailed contact information.
Sit comfortably with phone in your hand is such a way that you can read notes, take notes, if needed, and focus. Make sure that you can clearly hear the conversation at the other end and vice-versa. Keep your resume in front of you so that you have all the necessary important information handy. If the call comes unexpected, it is very much normal to ask for a reschedule of interview.
Do not get nervous in-between. Exude enthusiasm and confidence while answering the questions. Wait patiently for another question once you have completed your response to a certain question. Don’t start frivolous or meaningless talks. In case you have urge to snuffle, sneeze or cough, do say, "Excuse me."

3. After the Telephonic Interview

After a phone interview, it is advisable to send a thank-you note by email that will cover your Unique Selling Points. This will also place you in the category of a responsible and a well-mannered candidate who knows the ettiquettes of interview.
